Rodrigo Medeiros is a black belt under the recently departed Carlson Gracie, and one of the leaders of Revolution BJJ. Known for his emphasis on technique, he has compiled an impressive list of competition victories in Brazil and the United States. In our interview, conducted in his San Diego academy, we discuss topics ranging from advice for those interested in beginning jiu-jitsu to his reasoning on why training in the gi is better than submission grappling, and share many stories about Carlson.
We wrap up the show with competition results from yesterday’s Grappler’s Quest West, including the 5 on 5 team round robin tourney, where Team Cobra Kai defeated a team lead by Cleber Luciano to take $3,000 in prize money.
