Open tryouts for new IFL team in Reno

At 10 am on November 29th, at The Stadium Sport and Fitness Club in Reno Nevada Ken Shamrock’s newly announced team, the Lions, will hold open tryouts for all experienced fighters who wish to become a member of the eight man squad. As is the custom at all International Fight League events, five of the eight will compete at every Lions IFL match.

I would think that you’d want a backup for each of your five main fighters, thus having a total squad of ten, but I presume they know what they’re up to. In any case this tryout is a great opportunity for some guys who want to fight professionally.

  1. I am an amateur mma fighter with aspirations of becoming a professional within the next year. Are there any upcoming tyrouts and do I have to already be a professional in order to be elligible.

  2. Hi Randy,

Unfortunately I don’t think there’s a very neat answer for you. Regarding upcoming tryouts, the UFC occasionally makes public its casting calls for folks who want to appear on The Ultimate Fighter, and sometimes the IFL will release information about upcoming tryouts. Whenever I hear about these opportunities I’ll do my best to post about them here. Wish I had a better answer for you!
