I think MG is probably the most un-hated grappler in the game - how is it hating by saying he has dominated middleweight for 6 years; by intimating that this final was close; that Calasans may perhaps behis first legitimate threat in a gi since Terere; that his grip on the title may, at last, not be as tight as it has been?

All things end; hardly anyone would have tipped Pablo to beat him last year @ ADCC, yet beat him he did and one day someone may do the same at the Mundials.

And quoting stats at me, of all people? I know who he is and what he has achieved, but this is considered analysis, not unquestioning hero worship, we have the UG and Sherdog for that.

I'm NOT feeling the middle weight final write up..is there some hating on Marcelinho up this write up?? Yes there is..you see (mG) has won the Mundials as a blue, purple, brown and now 4 times as black belt. 3 time ADCC champion.. Marcelo Garcia is one of the worlds greatest pound per pound grapplers of all time.

Not just for the " moment at least. " Yeah sure.

Was that a clean knee bar from Tarsis? The photos I've seen look like he's wrenching Romulo's leg by laying on the outside of his knee.

Excellent write-up!

Yes, at first I got the two "Abreu"s confused also. After Roberto "Cyborg" Abreu's shock triangling of Antonio Braga Neto in the Ultra-Heavy semifinals, I thought - "wow, that's two years in a row that he's subbed Neto in his weight division". But it turns out that Neto's loss last year (in Super-Heavy) was to the *other* Abreu (Ricardo "Demente" Abreu).

Needless to say, both Abreus are very good. This confusion could end up lasting for years :-)
