Mixed martial arts as we know it became popular when Royce Gracie defeated several bigger, stronger opponents using Brazilian jiu-jitsu when the Ultimate Fighting Championship began in 1993. Now, more than fifteen years later, MMA has grown into a legitimate sport with fans all over the world.
As a Brazilian jiu-jitsu practitioner today, how much does MMA interest you now?

I follow MMA like most people follow football. But I really enjoy it when there is quality Grappling involved.
I like MMA somewhat, usually when I can see people who I really like on the BJJ side like Demian Maia, or BJ Penn. I do like some others like Machida, Silva, and GSP (all the big names), but truthfully that’s all I know. People at my acadmy like it a lot and talk about it, but sitting down to watch an entire card is actually quite boring to me.
