BJJ Poll: What Do You Drink After Training Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu?

October 31, 2009

Cohost Dan suggested this poll after noticing that after training, certain guys at the academy just tended to always grab the same drink, which were not his drink of choice. What about you? What do you reach for when you just finished a hard session of Brazilian jiu-jitsu training?

    Water: cheap and refreshing.

Means I can just fill my bottle from the tap beforehand, then down it afterwards, sipping from the water fountain in breaks between rolls.

You forgot tequilla, Caleb. In truth, it’s water for me, sometimes Gatorade (G2).

Since BJJ is mostly anaerobic, the best thing would be a good protein and carb drink to replenish glocogen levels and to repair and rebuild muscle fibers from the rigors of training. Usually best 30min – an hour after your last roll.
