Braulio Estima quickly submits J. K. Pietilainen on his way to winning the gold medal in the 2009 ADCC absolute division.

The 2009 Abu Dhabis, also known as the ADCC Submission Grappling Championship, have come and gone. As with every edition of the ADCC, we learn about new grappling dynamos to watch out for. But naturally it seems that the ones who do the best are faces we are familiar with.

This week’s episode of our humble BJJ internet radio show focuses on two of those competitors, Braulio Estima and Xande Ribeiro. Estima achieved the holy grail of submission grappling in winning the gold medal both his own weight class and that of the absolute division, where athletes of any size can participate. For his part, Ribeiro not only won his weight division as well, but faced off against Estima in the finals of the absolute division, where he brought home the silver medal. So I am pretty comfortable saying we are bringing you the best of the best this week on our show!

Of course we will also speak with Kid Peligro to look back at the 2009 ADCC and decide what it all means, from the new faces to some new techniques that we saw. Finally we wrap up the show by answering an email from one of the Mighty 600,000.
