2009 BJJ World Championship Video

June 24, 2009

About a week or so ago I was invited by the gang at BudoVideos in Los Angeles to put a voice to their results video for the 2009 BJJ World Championship. So after a long day at work I made the 2 hour drive from San Diego and made it to Budo headquarters in Los Angeles as the sun was going down.

I had little idea what to expect when I arrived but the guys from Budo were pretty laid back and basically said I could go nuts with the narratives for the matches. Lots of jiu-jitsu talk and a few hours later we called it a night and I left the Budo Videos crew with a bunch of audio they could use. I won’t go so far as to say that I nailed each recap on each match’s first take, but it really wasn’t much different than recording an episode of the show back at FightWorks Podcast headquarters.

As for the way home late that evening, well… during our live play-by-play at the 2009 BJJ World Championship itself, lots of folks were cheering me on and telling me to grab an energy drink that rhymes with Bed Pull. I never got a chance to refuel with one during the Mundial itself but you can bet I made it back to San Diego that night with one!

In any case I think the video turned out pretty well! What do you think?

You did a superb job. I just will never understand why the womens’ divisions of any sport get short shrift when compared to the men’s. It’s like it is a forgone conclusion that womens’ athletic endeavors are not equal to that of men. sad.

I loved the recap. I was there to watch the action and there’s much to follow that you can miss a submission in the blink of an eye.

Got something to say?
