The main point here is regardless of what Mendes did Samuel Braga should of just let it go instead of shoving him. PS I do think Mendes celebration was an overkill and a little disrespectful.

This story is crap and I don’t think Barga is the bad guy here. He is a great jujitsu practitioner and has won like what 6 or 7 world championships and never acted like a Mendes did.

Your story makes Braga sound like the villain, and partly falsified information. Mendes motioned as if cutting Braga’s head off and tossing it to the stands where Gracie Barra sat.

Braga is my master, a legend of Jiujitsu. A celebration must be held with respect, I believe it was the opposite, a lack of respect from Mendes.

Regardless of the unsportsmanlike conduct, Braga could also have been disqualified for no underwear.

No joke – A couple of years ago, Bill Cooper (who I think was a brown belt at the time) was disqualified from a major tournament for this.

I’ve not seen the imaginary sword celebration, is there a video somewhere?
Is it like an iaido sword drawing technique, or like a pirate’s cutlass slash?

think I will avoid such similar celebrations, if ever I win a medal one day.
