I remember I never used one before until I met up with a guy who'd power his way thru collar chokes. The first time rolled with him I tucked my chin and wasnt in danger of passing out but he put on so much pressure on my jaw that I was grinding my teeth! I immediately tapped out for fear of any kind of damage. With a mouthguard I can deal with those kind of guys and their sloppy chokes much longer without any fear of chipping a tooth.

Always wear a mouthguard!

EVERYTIME i´ve rolled without a mouthguard i´ve beaten my tongue, or the inner wall of my cheeks, and i do mean everytime. So please do yourself a favor and always wear your mouth piece. Also don´t be a chap $%#$% and get yourself the best possible protection, it´s your teeth we´re talking about!

Hi,
I also only wear whilst rolling - not during drilling or warm-up. A few of our guys wear them if we are practicing throws too.

A guy in my guard accidentally bumped his head into my chin. The collision cracked one of my teeth. It cost $900 to repair.
