Would you like to be this close to the action at the Mundials?
Pop quiz! How do you make sure that you have the very best seat in the house to see Brazilian jiu-jitsu’s rockstars like Xande Ribeiro, Romulo Barral, Tarsis Humphries, and Roger Gracie when they compete at the BJJ World Championship June 5th through June 8th?
Answer: Volunteer to be part of the event staff! A good bud of mine named Drew is not only a great friend I’ve made while training Brazilian jiu-jitsu, he is a very clever guy: I know I can always expect to find him just inches from the action at the Pan-Ams and Mundials because he volunteers!
Luckily your good friends here at The FightWorks Podcast asked the staff coordinator Mike Buckels for details of how to become a volunteer! Here’s what he had to say:
The United States Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation is currently seeking general staff and score keepers for the 2008 World Championships of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. It is not difficult to do and we will provide an online tutorial. All staff volunteers will receive a staff t-shirt, food and drink, free entry to the competition and a great view of the action! If you are interested just drop us an e-mail at firstname.lastname@example.org by May 28th.
Honestly, if I were not busy bringing coverage of these great events, I would definitely offer to be part of the event staff. Hope to see you inside the barriers at the BJJ Mundials in a few weeks!
