Super Challenge Match Ups Announced

The promoters for the upcoming Super Challenge in Sao Paulo on December 8th have made the preliminary match ups public. The event is a premium submission grappling tournament with 16 competitors.

Bracket 1 :

Demian Maia vs. Bruno Bastos
Rafael Lovato Jr. vs. Luiz Teodoro, aka Big Mac

Tarsis Humphreys vs. Shiko Yamashita
Fabricio Werdum vs. Delson Heleno aka Pé de Chumbo

Bracket 2 :

Xande Ribeiro vs. David Avellan
Cristano Titi vs. Hyotaro Endo

Eduardo Teles vs. Gabriel Vella
Nino Schembri vs André Galvão

Although he signed to a contract to compete in the event, Jeff Monson “just disappeared without any notice”.

It is noteworthy that three of these matchups are rematches, a deliberate calculation by matchmaker Paulo Vasconcellos. Big Mac lost to Rafael Lovato Jr. at the Brazilian jiu-jitsu world championships in 2007 in the super heavyweight division, Xande Ribeiro will get a chance to avenge his triple-overtime loss to David Avellan at the 2007 ADCCs, and Schembri against Galvao is a rematch as well.

The promoters plan on streaming the event live over the internet from their website, although at the time of this writing the site remains without exact details on the matter.
