The press squad of the Super Challenge, to be held December 8th in Sao Paulo, Brazil, has relayed a change in the lineup of the world-class grapplers who will be compete that day.
Robert Drysdale, who submitted the fan favorite Marcelo Garcia at this year’s Abu Dhabi Combat Club Submission Tournament, has been injured and will not be able to compete. The Brazilian-American has injured his knee.
His replacement will be another ADCC grappler, Andre Galvao. Galvao is a member of the Brazilan jiu-jitsu team Brasa, and currently is assisting Wanderlei Silva’s ground game for his fight against Chuck Liddell at UFC 79: Nemesis. Galvao, like many of his elite Brazilian jiu-jitsu peers, is reportedly working on making the transition from BJJ and grappling competition to mixed martial arts.
According to the promoters, the Super Challenge is to be broadcast over the internet from Sao Paulo so grappling and Brazilian jiu-jitsu fans from all over the world will be able to watch the action. The price for the broadcast has not been fixed but it is expected to be in the ballpark of $9.99.
