The MTL, Brazil's Team-Based MMA League

If you’re familiar with the International Fight League, you have a decent understanding of how one can apply a team system to a sport that has traditionally been focused on the individual. In the short history of the Manhattan-based IFL, they have managed to gain a lot of attention and are now closing in on the end of their first full season.

Ever since Sherdog and MMAWeekly earlier this month announced the arrival of Brazil’s first MMA league, the MTL, there have probably been many wondering where to find more information about the promotion, which is unrelated to the IFL but similar in format. I found the website for the MTL recently but the page was under construction until now.

The coaches of the four MTL teams are famous Brazilian fighters in their own rights: Antonio Rogerio Nogueira, Pedro Rizzo, Murilo Bustamante, and Wanderlei Silva.

The MTL’s new site contains training shots and video on two of their teams, the WildFire and the Hurricane.

For those who are interested in actively following the MTL, you can predict the outcomes of their events at the following links!
