#39 Jude Samuel and BJJ in Europe

by Caleb on October 8, 2006

If it weren’t for names like Roger Gracie, some folks might forget that Brazilian jiu-jitsu is large in places other than Brazil and North America, as the media spotlight tends to hover on those. We wanted to highlight the bubbling scene in Europe this week, and were able to talk with Jude Samuel, one of the first to receive his black belt in the United Kingdom. Jude’s been involved since the beginning as a student of Mauricio Gomes, and helps organize tournaments like the ADCCs and the Gracie Invitational in the UK. Plus, he gives information on an upcoming tournament with a 10,000 euro purse! At the time of this writing, that’s $18,709.95!
