A man identified as Carlos Alberto de Oliveira of Porto Alegre, Brazil faces federal charges of interfering with operations of an aircraft after he was reported to have attempted to open the door of the plane after three hours of flight.

It is not unlikely, given the description, that it is the same Carlos Alberto de Oliveira who is a black belt and competed in the 2006 European CBJJ competition and in the 2006 PanAms. Passengers subdued the man, who was said to be wearing “jujitsu champion logos” and military fatigues, and he was later placed in custody by federal air marshals.
